Who is Zoe?
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
    because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
    he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
    and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,
    and the day of vengeance of our God;
    to comfort all who mourn;
3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
    to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
    the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
    the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.
4 They shall build up the ancient ruins;
    they shall raise up the former devastations;
they shall repair the ruined cities,
    the devastations of many generations.
                            -Isaiah 61:1-4

There are so many people who have asked who Zoe is! Redeeming Zoe comes from Isaiah 61:1-4. God has called us to bring good news to the poor, and to bind the brokenhearted, repair the devastations of the past and give hope for the future! “Repair” means “to redeem or bring back to its original state”. We want to see lives changed. Zoe is the greek word for "life". More specifically, it is the “…perfect life breathed into Adam before sin entered the world.”
Our programs will target high-risk communities, that will strengthen families and lower the rate of exploitation. The pain caused by exploitation cannot be taken away. We can give those at risk and those being rescued, the life that God desires for them. We want to make them oaks of righteousness so that they can glorify God with all that they are!
"So they may become oaks of righteousness, the planting of The Lord, so that he may be glorified."
Why Cebu, Philippines?
Redeeming Zoe chose Cebu City because we want to partner with reputable organizations that rescue children well. As we knew God was calling us, we also knew that He wanted us working with other members from the Body of Christ. The International Justice Mission has an office in Cebu City. The city of Cebu has just over 2 million people living there. As we were researching and asking about what kind of needs we could help meet, God made it clear that we were to invest in this city. We have seen first hand girls being transported to other countries and exploited. We can’t sit by and do “nothing”! Redeeming Zoe wants to bring “Zoe” life to the people of Cebu City! Redeeming Zoe chose Cebu, Philippines because we want to partner with reputable organizations that not only rescue, but want to be a solution to the problem.
