Our own way of showing love
February is celebrated as the love month in the Philippines. You will see lots of flowers and heart balloons sold in the streets and stores. Culturally, people who are able would really go big on buying gifts and showing love this month. For us at Redeeming Zoe we have our own little way of showing our love to the community.
FEBRUARY MONTHLY WINS:
We started a new barangay community outreach program. As of now, we have over 20 children who will be joining in the weekly activities and will be educated with our curriculum “I can be strong, smart, and safe”. We will provide snacks, body safety lessons, bible stories, and fun for these children. We look forward to empowering and equipping the next generation through these children and we hope for more children to join.
This month we also started our curriculum for a barangay we used to work with last year. In this particular barangay, we already developed a relationship with the children so parents are very supportive of our programs. The children are so interested and eager to learn the RZ lessons about body safety. As of now, there are 15 children who regularly join and are ministered to by the RZ team and we couldn't be happier.
While this month calls for a celebration for completing our lesson booklet with the Club Kinabuhi teens, what we celebrate the most is that five teens commit and regularly join in church youth gatherings and three boys have joined the basketball league at church. What a joy to see them get a grasp of what a church community looks like.
While the monthly food pack for the Club Kinabuhi family continues, our goal of educating parents continues as well. This month we were able to conduct a training for the CK parents about the Rights of a child and the basic needs of children that they should provide as parents. Many parents said they can now relate and understand why the government, when deemed necessary, can intervene when it comes to protecting their own children.
